Class IV

Yea!! I finally have a class 4 pt, one of the things I was worried about. Oddly enough, it ended up being by class 4 from last semester. I was suprised she was a 4 again but Perry told me that once a class 4 it is pretty much inevitable that they will lose their teeth and their prognosis is not a hopeful one. I feel really bad for my patient because she doesn't have the money to see a specialist and she is so absolutely sweet. It breaks my heart that her condition can't be fixed. My afternoon patient no showed, even though she told me yesterday she is coming. I am not going to reschedule her. I called another pt and he said he will be here in 30 min. we'll see......

Hey that is great you got a class 4 today, I was fortunate enough to find one too!
Your so sweet, but I agree it is sad when you have a patient that just can't seem to get it right to help their condition.
We do what we can to help!

Wow Julie! That's awesome that you got a class IV today! But it is sad when your pts aren't improved and especially when part of it is financial barriers. But I'm sure she appreciates it and at least your helping her keep her teeth for a little longer. I hope your afternoon pt came :) I miss you as a pod buddy!!!

On the flip side I've seen a Class 3 (not a class 4) that looks amazing now after years of tx and OHI. She came in awhile ago and has been a class three consistently. Now she honestly looks like a 1B. Her gums are so healthy. She doesn't bleed and her OH is incredible. It's motivating to see that because we always see the worst, it seems like.
